Bosch Joins Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025
Mumbai Indians have announced the signing of South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for right-arm pacer Lizaad Williams, who has been ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to injury.
In an official statement, IPL confirmed the development: “South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2025 due to an injury, and Mumbai Indians have signed his compatriot Corbin Bosch as his replacement.”
Bosch’s Previous IPL Experience
Although Bosch has not yet made his IPL debut, he was previously part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in 2022 as a reserve player. He joined the franchise as a replacement for Australia’s Nathan Coulter-Nile but did not get a game that season.
Success with MI Cape Town in SA20
The 30-year-old all-rounder is familiar with the Mumbai Indians setup, having played a crucial role for their SA20 team, MI Cape Town, in their title-winning campaign earlier this year. Bosch took 11 wickets in seven innings at an economy rate of 8.68, proving to be a valuable asset for the team. His inclusion in MI will also see him reunite with his national and SA20 teammate, Ryan Rickelton.
PSL Commitments and International Performance
Bosch was also a high-profile pick in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 draft, where he was selected as a diamond pick by Peshawar Zalmi. However, with PSL and IPL running concurrently, he will have to forgo his PSL stint to play in India.
On the international stage, Bosch made headlines in December last year with a memorable Test debut against Pakistan. Batting at No. 9, he scored an unbeaten 81, setting the record for the highest score on Test debut from that position. This achievement placed him ahead of notable cricketers such as India’s Balwinder Sandhu and Sri Lanka’s Milan Rathnayake.

With experience in 86 T20 matches, Bosch has taken 59 wickets at an economy rate of 8.38 and has scored 663 runs at a strike rate of 113.33. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him a versatile addition to Mumbai Indians.
